Earlier this year, Dax Holding went to Italy to meet our new linen yarn supplier ‘Linificio Canapificio Nazionale’. They have been spinning since 1873 and their focus has become the production of the best quality linen in the world.

The new Mungo Mali is a vibrant textile range that features woven patterns inspired by traditional West African strip-cloth. The story behind this cloth began five years ago when Master Weaver Stuart Holding embarked on a trip to Mali to learn about this ancient textile tradition.

Mungo makes its way to New York for the renowned biannual trade show, NY Now. Being in the Artisan Resource sector and surrounded by international talent on all levels is always inspiring. What was more inspiring was the reaction and response to Mungo and our offering. We showcased our brand new Mungo Mali range of cushions, throws and table runners along with our African inspired textile range.

Next month we are off to New York to exhibit at one of the most renowned annual trade shows in the world – NY Now. Preparation is in full swing at Mungo.

At the Mungo Mill we now have 7 working Dornier Looms which were all made in the 1970s (the older models, although slower, are more versatile). The latest addition being the Wide Width Dornier which arrived from the UK last year.

Ithaca, a small Greek island situated in the turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea, is where celebrated South African photographers Gerda Genis and Robbert Koene have transformed an old ruin into a beautiful stone villa – they brought over Mungo textiles from home to furnish it.
