A storybook woven to life.
We can all relate to the idea of childhood attachment – a beloved blanket or bunny that was never far from your sight, and that provided comfort from night-time monsters, or went along on long car rides, school outings or trips to the mall. Perhaps a toy or token that, with its familiar touch or smell, could comfort and soothe… Or sparked tears and tantrums when washing day came around.
Perhaps it was this that peeked our interest in the tale of Bonbon and Blanket – a manuscript that landed on our desk a few months ago, sharing the sweet tale of a little boy and his favourite companion; a blanket.
A trusty sidekick, Blanket goes on many an adventure, taking on the most needed form or companion along the way.
On one such escape, things don’t quite go to plan – in turn helping Bonbon to learn that not all adventures are of your own choosing…
Inspired by this tale, we wove to life the Bonbon Blanket. A colourful, pure cotton kids blanket, sold alongside the heart-warming story book that brought it to life.
Each copy of Bonbon and Blanket is signed by the author and illustrator, Emily House.
The proceeds from the sale of this blanket will be donated to Shine Literacy, an NPO that empowers young children across South Africa through literacy and learning programmes.
Thank you to Imagnary House, a small publisher and local bookstore that specialises in children’s literature, for sending us the manuscript.
