Mungo Fashion Show
At our annual staff party this year, we did something a little different. Mungo team members were invited to take offcuts and fabrics from the Mill and turn them into garments or accessories of their own making. The challenge wasn’t just about sewing; it was about imagination, resourcefulness and creative flair, exactly the qualities that shape how we think about textile design.
We were honoured to have the pieces judged by Marianne Fassler, one of South Africa’s most celebrated fashion designers. Fassler has spent decades defining a uniquely South African voice in fashion, blending bold colour, texture and pattern through her iconic Leopard Frock label. Her work has been shown on runways around the world and is deeply rooted in colour and expressive design – a fitting perspective for this event. Also on the panel was Mungo Designer Lenore Schroeder, bringing her own eye for textile and detail to the judging.
Each garment was assessed on five criteria:
– Creativity – originality and imagination
– Craftsmanship – effort, skill and quality of execution
– Use of Material – clever use of Mungo textiles and offcuts
– Styling – confidence and runway presentation
– The Wow Factor – overall impact and vibe
