The Visibly Mended MOS Wrap

At Mungo, we’re meticulous about the cloth that leaves our mill. Every towel, blanket and scarf passes through multiple quality checks. However, when you’re weaving a blend of mohair, bamboo and silk on a century-old Hattersley loom, sometimes small mistakes are inevitable, and part of the character.

So we took ten of our Mos Wraps with mendable weaving faults and entrusted them to textile designer and mending practitioner Lucie Panis Jones, who repaired each one by hand, celebrating rather than concealing the skipped wefts, snapped yarns and other quirks of the weave. No two mends are alike, making every wrap a one-of-a-kind expression of care, craft and the beauty of imperfection.

South African Mohair

The MOS Wrap is woven with mohair that’s sourced and spun in South Africa – one of the world’s leading producers of this rare and remarkable fibre. Prized for its softness, strength and gentle natural lustre, South African mohair is considered among the finest in the world.

Woven on our Hattersley Loom

Over a century old, our Hattersley is a Yorkshire-born workhorse from the cottage industry era – still earning its keep in our Mill today.

We love our Hattersley loom for its character. It’s entirely hands-on, requiring a single dedicated weaver to guide every step. With the MOS Wrap, the weaver becomes part-designer too, shaping how each colour block falls.

Please note:
You might spot a slight variance here and there.
That’s the loom talking. That’s the mark of the person who loaded the shuttle.

Factory perfection is easy. Character isn’t.
